Agentes anticolinérgicos são contra-indicados em pacientes com glaucoma primário, uma tendência de glaucoma (estreito ângulo da câmara anterior), ou aderências (synechiae) entre a íris e lentes, bem como para os idosos e outras pessoas em quem não diagnosticado glaucoma ou excessiva da pressão no olho pode estar presente. Porque anticolinérgicos causar midríase, eles podem agravar essas condições.

Consumidor:

Agentes simpatomiméticos pode induzir transitória midríase através da estimulação alfa-1 adrenérgicos. Em pacientes com anatomicamente ângulos estreitos ou glaucoma de ângulo estreito, dilatação pupilar pode provocar um ataque agudo. Nos pacientes com outras formas de glaucoma, midríase, ocasionalmente, pode aumentar a pressão intra-ocular. A terapia com agentes simpatomiméticos deve ser administrada com precaução em doentes com predisposição para glaucoma, especialmente glaucoma de ângulo estreito.
