O uso de niacina e niacinamida (nicotinamida) é contra-indicado em pacientes com hipotensão grave. Estes agentes têm vasodilatador periférico efeitos e normalmente pode causar rubor em doses substancialmente superiores às de necessidades fisiológicas (por exemplo, hipolipemiantes em doses).
