Narcóticos opiáceos analgésicos, agentes podem exacerbar convulsões em pacientes com transtornos convulsivos e, em doses mais elevadas, têm sido relatados para induzir convulsões em pacientes sem história prévia de convulsões. O proconvulsant atividade pode ser maior com a meperidina, o metabólito ativo do que é pensado para ser responsável. A terapia com opióides devem ser administrados com precaução em doentes com predisposição para convulsões.
