As tetraciclinas (exceto doxiciclina) são eliminados pelo rim em vários extensão. Pacientes com insuficiência renal podem estar em maior risco de tetraciclina associados hepática e/ou toxicidade renal (aumento do BUN com consequente azotemia, hiperfosfatemia e acidose), devido à diminuição de interações de folga. A terapia com tetraciclina deve ser administrado com cautela em doses reduzidas em pacientes com insuficiência renal. Monitorização clínica da função renal e de função hepática é recomendada, e o soro de tetraciclina níveis pode ser necessário durante a terapia prolongada.
