Consumidor:O uso de nitrofurantoína raramente tem sido associada com hepatotoxicidade, incluindo hepatite, icterícia colestática, hepatite crónica activa, e necrose hepática. Nitrofurantoin macrocrystals cápsulas são contra-indicados em pacientes com história prévia de icterícia/disfunção hepática associadas com nitrofurantoína. A maioria das reações agudas são auto-limitantes e resolvem-se espontaneamente, embora as mortes têm sido relatados. A terapia com nitrofurantoína deve ser administrado com cautela em pacientes com doença hepática. A monitorização periódica da função hepática é recomendada durante terapia prolongada. O medicamento deve ser retirado imediatamente se a hepatite ou danos no fígado ocorre e é considerada relacionada com a droga. Desde a nitrofurantoína é parcialmente metabolizado pelo fígado, uma dose reduzida pode também ser necessário, para evitar toxicidade.
